Well my starting army is just dreadful. On the restart I picked a new race in hopes to get a better starting army but was not so lucky.

The arena is pretty tough, isn't it?
So far, I did see a little difference in XP gains with some T1 that ran out of XP before I killed them and prevented me from farming XP. So that modification in Zaskow's mod is working! <smiletext0> We will see how it works for higher tiers.

Ok, waiting for a bit more feedback (and I repeat again: check that you have updated your usual playtime: http://www.the-battlefield.co... and we may restart then.

And ok for updating to the latest version of the mod then.

I would prefer to update mod as I am on steam.  I don't think I can limit only that mod to not update.

As for starting over, I'm for it.  A good turn order will go a long ways.

Those items are your call. I am okay either way.

One note: to whoever used my color scheme: I am going to find you and kill you!

Mmh, I noticed yesterday that I totally forgot to re-arrange people according to the optimum turn order. And it seems we have a pretty bad order with AlX after me and before jobpbem (after that, it's quite good in theory).
So I don't know if we should restart with the correct order as we have done only 1 turn? But maybe some of you didn't actually update their playtime here? http://www.the-battlefield.co... />
Lykus also asked a very good question in the official forum: do we want to update the mod when new updates are released? I think not necessarily as Zaskow is planning some massive changes, some of which I don't really like. But that would mean Steam's users must disable the auto-update. I don't have AoW3 on Steam so not sure how it works, but I believe mods auto-update for you guys.

No, you're not allowed to attack an opponent's city so you definitely cannot raze it.

I think we need to keep it as simple as possible, because there are too many loopholes possible.
So rule 3/ is:

3/ your units should leave your city (understood here as the 7 hexes of the city) as soon as possible: no hiding in your city to prevent attacks (so you can stay inside your domain but can be attacked inside). BUT, you can keep up to 6 units in your city to fight roaming independents and avoid being snipped unit by unit as your produced unit leave your city. Try to be smart about this rule: do not camp just outside your opponent's throne to kill his units and conversely, do not flee back to your throne each time you're in danger. It should be used only against independent and for newly produced units (or leader respawning).

So you can kill enemy units in their domain, but that's not very fun to just wait for each unit to get out and kill it. The best would be to have a kind of one-way teleporter that would send your produced units and leader (when he respawns) to the arena (even better if it's at a random location), but we would need a specific map + mod for it, which we don't.

So are we allowed to capture and immediately raze an opponent's town?

How far should we move our produced troops? Outside of city domain, or just a bit away from central hex?
I mean the second option would allow to enter enemies domain and kill the troops without taking city😇

Maybe we should also have a rule called "siege":
When players forces are defeated, he has say 5 turns to rebuild (together with the leader 6 units), during this time the enemy is allowed to stay close to throne (need only for monitoring purposes). If the player succeeds (enough gold/mana), he must move outside of the city.

If the player fails - he must surrender

Aaaaaaaah, that's a good question! Forgot about the roaming evil guys!

Mmh, you're right: should be allowed to leave a garrison to defend against roaming. Also, you should not be forced to get your units killed one by one by an opponent waiting next to your throne.
It's hard to say what is against independent and what is "in excess" though. So let's say no more than 6 units defending a city and / or waiting to get in sufficient number to leave it. It's not a competitive game so I count on everyone to respect the spirit of it: do not camp stupidly next to someone's else throne and conversely, do not play hide and seek by moving back to your throne each time you're in danger.
I think it will be hard to define this rule precisely as there may be many specific situations (e.g. your leader just respawned at your throne and your opponent is next to it, what do you do? well in theory you should leave but the idea is not to have people camping next to opponent's throne to kill their units one by one, so let's say you can stay in your throne while your main army comes to pick you up).
I edit my previous post.

So, do we leave any units in our city to prevent it being taken by Independents?

user

That's the Hunger Games so yes, you're allowed to form team to eliminate some player(s)!

You are not supposed to hide in your city. Maybe we should add a rule: units should leave your city as soon as possible (ie the turn after they are produced).

Yes, allowed to build fortresses.

If you lose your armies and have no gold: you have lost and should surrender (and raze your city before), except if you think you have a way out of your mess.

So update of the house rules:
1/ forbidden to take other's city, even after they're dead (you can retake yours if it was taken by independants)
2/ if you only have your city and most of your units are dead and you have no chance of survival: just raze your city and surrender
3/ your units should leave your city as soon as possible: no hiding in your city to prevent attacks.
4/ everything else allowed: alliances to kill other players, building forts, strategic spells targeting opponent's cities

Hey guys,

so I think we need to define what is acceptable in this game:
1. we can' t attack the city, but can attack the armies of the enemy - in this case what happens if the enemy hides in the city?
2. what happens if I loose my armies, but have enough gold to rebuild?
3. am I allowed to build fortresses?
4. are we allowed to form teams? (to eliminate certain player)

anything else you might think is important.

Yes you can cast such spells.

The idea is that no one stays in his city, so when all the independents are dead, you just go to kill your opponent's units and then they surrender.
