Nice game with a maybe not that deserved victory. Tigran rogue is a long lost dear favorite of mine from games a long ago in the past, now it was on again and it worked. Heart of the volcano just makes those stalkers a little more on fire and with a dragon dwelling supporting the succubi for love between cats and giants things started to get interesting. I started in the middle north, the heart mentioned belonged to what was to become my third city, can´t really recall if I vassalized it or took it by force, but I made sure that heart was always protected by a protective rib cage in the form of a simple assassin or even a stalker at later times. I found out quickly that I was quite behind - on turn 7 or the like I discovered the leader of Tussell roaming in the arctic regions in the east. I think the leader was level 9 or something at that point, and I saw draconian fliers as well as node serpents, so shook my pants and hoped for the best. This made me always have some kind of defense at home and I firstly crossed blades with Tussell around an archon dwelling which probably gave us vassal quests at the same time. I suffered great losses in that battle, which was against fairies, (because the indies initiated it), but it gave me greater wonder of an archon titan and a caster which made a nice sidekick to be necromancer on the side. My leader found the music box and played some rhytms to get a stone giant from the dragon dwelling within my wolfpack. It turned useful against Jolopia´s attempt to raid my home turf, while I also had to deal with Tussell´s big armies of exalted in the south. This eventually led me to a tour de force claiming a dungeon in the domain of Olop, and casting incite revolt, which made him offer me an informal alliance. And then... Stalemate, probably 5-7 turns Tussell and I saw at each other´s large armies, I lost a scout a couple of times, and got the revolts going in two cities of his. I also initiated a second flank in order to provoke the attack and it worked. This is for the readers of the forum an essence of intense debate about fairness. I had three stacks (only three) - Tussell had four. I could move ahead and get slaughtered by killing momentum exalted or stay a bit behind and play the rogue game - the unfair game. Eventually he charged ahead and I had to try my luck. Don´t have the "probable victory" or "probable screenshot" but I do have one of the battle that I felt decided the game. Because, Tussell was strongest on the paper. I had pledged to the other players very early on for non-aggression as I could see that he was powerful - on turn 7. The second flank somehow succeeded in holding off a large attack and then I could sweep the lands of his - 1-turn migrating every single city (expander rocks!) - and producing units and armies upfront of the almost sudden defeat. Next I turned to mauvebutterfly and we had some nice fights. Here I used the hero from "rise of the machines" brought upon me (and yes, I also took care of the fire rouge), which also fell in love with a succubi earlier on. The cannon went to Margula to help in taking care of things in the underground. Stalkers are kind of neat in that essence, and as flame tanks was not heavily amassed thinks wen´t swiftly at some point. Lastly Jolopia betrayed me, while I was taking care of mauvebutterfly. This was to happen at some point, so even though it´s was a betrayal it had to happen, when allied victory are not enabled. I mainly dealt with the human sorceror by the means of amassed stalkers, spirit elementals and the tigran troops which were roaming the whole of the map at that time. Whew. Thanks a lot for joining. If you see my record, this victory falls in a much needed spot.

50,000 points!
Well done Eskild, I don't think I ever saw a report with one player getting 50,000 points!

Well done! Where did you get the Bone Collector? I expect it to have done a massacre in the 3vs3 big fight displayed in the screenshot.

I feel like I was way too passive this entire game. I appreciate this report, since I was mostly fighting scout wars with Jolopia for most of the game and didn't have any knowledge of the other side of the map.

The Wrath of the Gods event (the lightning zapping your troops one) coincided with when I was first planning to attack you and basically shut all my machines down. I'd never seen that one before. Considering you got centurion shortly afterwards, I doubt I could have taken much even without that event.

I'm also terrible at predicting auto-combats.

Nice game with a maybe not that deserved victory. Tigran rogue is a long lost dear favorite of mine from duel PBEM games in the past. Now (then) it was on again and it worked. Heart of the volcano just makes those stalkers a little more on fire and with a dragon dwelling supporting the succubi with quests for love between cats and giants, things started to get interesting, even though that actually was later.

I suffered great losses in that battle, which was against fairies, but it gave me greater wonder of an archon titan and a caster which made a nice sidekick to my necromancer on the side.

As mentioned, the succubus played some soft tunes to get a stone giant from the dragon dwelling within my wolfpack. It turned useful against Jolopia´s attempt to raid my home turf, while I also had to deal with the threat of Tussell´s big armies of exalted and flamers in the south. This eventually led me to a tour de force claiming a dungeon in the domain of Olop, and casting incite revolt, which made him offer me an informal alliance, because he also realized that an empire was rising steadily in the east.

And then... Stalemate, probably 5-7 turns Tussell and I saw at each other´s large armies, I lost a scout a couple of times, and got the revolts going in two cities of his. I also initiated a second flank in order to provoke the attack and it worked. This is for the readers of the forum an essence of intense debate about fairness and whether or not it should be allowed to attack 4v3... I had three stacks (only three) - Tussell had four. I could move ahead and get slaughtered by killing momentum exalted or stay a bit behind and play the rogue game - the unfair game, with a little of concealed units now and then.

Eventually he charged ahead and I had to try my luck. Don´t have the "probable victory" or "probable screenshot", but I do have one of the battle that I felt decided the game.

The heroes of mine participating in this battle was actually not my strongest heroes, my leader and the archdruid was at that time haunting the underground for gold and riches to support the troops for my second flank:

Next I turned to mauvebutterfly and we had some nice fights. Here I used the hero from "rise of the machines" brought upon me (earlier on I also had to take care of the fire rouge), which also fell in love with a succubi earlier on. In my case a 1 day timer is sufficient. Even if it goes down to a couple of hours remaining, I won't miss my turn. I always check my turns after work and before bed.

That being said, a longer timer also doesn't effect me since even though I won't use it, I don't mind other people taking longer on their turns if necessary.

I know I'm not really saying anything. Just letting you know that you aren't just talking to yourself.

Turn timer
Hi everyone, changed the turn timer to 2 days, because I had doubts on how quickly you played your turns. Let me know if you want it back to 1 day - it would incline me to play my turns as soon as I´m able to, and probably the same for you.

Turn timer...
Please let me know if the timer is too short. I made it 1 day so we have a solid progressing game. Can see that Tussell only have 7 hours left to play his/her turn...

Tournament-ish settings are great. Sounds good to me.

Ideas for settings...
Well since it is a 4 player game, we should take the medium map. I prefer settings like in the tournament, so continents but with water slider down to 25-30%.

Underground will be enabled with sliders (for walls) also at 25-30%.

Strong defenders, few roads, independent cities and dwellings, far starting distance, everything else at average, if there´s no objections to this within the next 18-24 hours, I will not rehost the game. I hosted it already to speed up the process. By the way beacons are off, and heroes will be set to 3.

I tried to maneuver at bit around with turn order, and found the above to be most feasible, even though my logic would say that mauve (Korea) could also have been positioned lastly... But again it depends on our playtimes, which is probably why the above set turn order is the optimal one.

I´ll host the game immediately so we can start in whenever all are ready - of course, I will rehost if someone have better ideas for map and settings. The password will be "Pangaea".

I prefer FFA.  I am flexible on the games settings.

4 player FFA
Hi, I will host a 4 player FFA, as soon as players for this is ready we can start.

The game will be called Battefield FFA.

I have added Mauvebutterfly as he/she showed interest in the PBEM player pool. Game will be created with password as soon as 4 players have joined in here.

We can discuss briefly map settings and if we play with or without any mods on the game page.

We can also discuss if someone rather want this game to be a team game (actually thought about making a 2v2v2, but the game time will be heavily increased by that amount of players).

Cheers, Eskild.
