Game #1345 | Round 1 : Top League #1

Congrats to you, well deserved. I won't complain about game mechanics but I was really unlucky with some halflings. Lost my leader in turn 6 in due to 3 dodges in a row. Have had 25 HP on my leader and just wanted to finish a 9 HP halfling brew brother (last unit) with a flanking melee strike (did not shoot, cuz I expected one dodge and then the brew brother could have thrown his cleavers 3 times). Brew brother got lucky. Not a big deal, because my leader will survive 2 attacks, so even another time the brew brother got lucky wouldn't have been a problem. But the damn basterd got lucky two more times against the counter attacks of my leader and killed him with his 3rd attack.

Luck wasn't at my site again in turn 9. Attacked 2 wisps with a secondary stack. Began with some shots from a longbowman and I really wouldn'd have bet on losing a unit. First wisp flanked my longbowman and have had a critical strike for 18 damage. Not a big deal I thought because he has 16 HP left. Second wisp flanked again (what was calculated) and did a critical strike again. No chance for the longbowman to die except getting hit with a critical attack two times. Happiness of the wisps was at 200. At this point the secondary stack has lost it's damage dealer and need to wait for backup.

We met first in turn 14, I took a city from Marcus in turn 15 but instantly lost it next turn.
In turn 17 I did a risky battle to get back into the game and, yap what should I say... 4 out of 7 dodges from halfling apprentice (200 happiness)  for losing my second hero and the next longbowman. Secondary stack was doomed and honestly I could have surrendered at this point.

Have had a quest from the dragons in the center of the map but losing my leader cost me 2-3 turns and Marcus killed my quest (or completed his own) and got 2 wyverns 1-2 turns before I could complete the quest.

Loosing my leader that early was too much...

GG, valiant effort in that last battle, the stupid AI almost managed to ruin an otherwise good game from me.

God forbid they use an useful spell instead of trying to suicide my leader.

The screenshot's i have include the scouting of your army, and then remove the wisp in hope you move towards me and I can take advantage of that. In the end your screenshot bambuffles me as it seems I succeeded in the plan and still manages to not see you, despite my gryphon rider should have seen you if you indeed ended your turn as in the screen (5 hex vision):

In the end I must say I was lucky with converts from my orc rogue, was doubtful to accept first hero offer but in the end decided the healing spell+small chance of charm was worth it.

Especially the 20% chance on gryphon rider turned out to be crucial. Had a bunch of high elf hunters that cleared the opposite side of the map and after the first big battle attempted a wizard tower and almost succeeded, 1 t4 greyguard left and didnt have enough units close by to finish it off.

You mean turn 16? I had scouted you with a wisp and destroyed it so you wouldnt see that i see you. Couldnt reach with a satisficing army so I decided to make other sites, perhaps your tiger was on the route to those sites after your mistake the turn after, if so nicely played, but you couldn't know that I had seen you the turn before (so therefore how should I have known you were in range)?
