It was fun game but I think we shouldn't play without balance mod, it is very unbalanced. Although everyone had that advantage.

DarkRider, reports are not like this: "I'm first, everyone else is last, and I don't care about their class/race". So either you do a correct report, or I delete this one and all the future reports you do like this.

Well, Good Game Dark! I couldn't overcome the small island start with a WL leader, not sure it would have made much difference, but still! Not sure if we should report the game, but was a very hard game for me, slow research pace, island start and economic difficulties all the way. With the necro hero I managed to ghoul a lot of good units, same as Darkrider, but the battles vs Personian and Gilafron took a lot of causalities. And I think, if my leader didnt attack two King Shock Serpents (oh, the irony) by himself and let the Node Serpent and King Wraith attack them, it could have turned out different, at least a few more turns!

I had this problem in two other games; fortunately the problem resolved itself not too long ago, I'd give it another shot now if I were you.  I suspect the update system for mods was down for a while....

FYI, I can't play my turn after the latest patch.  I've entered a support ticket with Triumph via their forum.  I've also stopped the timer until it is resolved.  Here's the issue I reported:

I am in a six player PBEM game.  After the patch earlier today, I receive an error that I cannot play my turn because the mods are the wrong version. The mods themselves have not changed, just the patch.  I unsubscribed the mods, deleted, and re-subscribed to the mods, but it still is not working.

My PBEM game is The Broken Lands.  The mods reported as no longer working are Empire Mod and Fortress Additions.

Sadly you are right, the Empire Mod override the balance mod.
So the only benefit of the balance mod is the skills that are unchanged from the Empire Mod, for example hero/leader xp gains. Also raise corpse need to be chosen for four points. Shadow step cost 6 as opposed to 4, again Empire Mod override.

With above said, I say lets play as is hosted (without mod).

Is balance mod compatible with Empire Mod?  I kind of doubt it since Empire Mod has its own hero skill progression chart.  I'm not a min/max player, so it doesn't matter to me if we play without it.  However, if folks want me to re-host with balance mod, I can.

I think we should enable Balance mod else it will be purely based on leader luck.

Can one mighty (necro) baron rule them all?

I suspect once this mighty baron reveals himself,
there will be reasons for a mighty alliance.  <smiletext0>
Or not, that is way of the barons in the badlands.  :'(

I've joined the game, but we are playing without PBEM Balance mod?
This seems like a true gamble, I hope no one get Necromancer in the random leader roulette!
Dwarfs also seems to have a big advantage, with all those mountains and diggable walls, but I don't mind, same chance for all of us to get the ultimate leader (Dwarf Necromancer, 1.4%)!

The Broken Lands
Leaders vie for control the Broken Lands.  While not much is known about the Broken Lands, it's reputation is viciousness.

Highlights:

  • Random Geographic Settings

  • Random Leaders

  • Very Slow game flow

  • Five Heroes capped at level 10

  • Empire Mod

  • Settings geared toward an undeveloped, mystical, wild realm



RANDOM!  Here's how the game is setup:
The 13 geographic settings are assigned randomly assign a value on a scale between 1 an 7.  1 is far left, 4 is middle, 7 is far right.

Leaders are random.  You get what you get.

Mods:

  • Empire Building

  • Triumphant Heroes

  • Triumphant Heroes for Empire Building Mode

  • Fortress Additions


NOTE:  I'll investigate combining these mods into one for easy selecting/deselecting, but no guarantee

Level 13 sounds good for heroes.  Or maybe 15.  Give a couple levels beyond for those that don't plan ahead, like me.

Nice settings, sounds like a lot of fun!

Hero lvl though, some of the cool skills in empire building mod comes after 10, many of them require lvl 13, so I would suggest max lvl 13 instead.

The randomness is very exciting!
